Report of the Strategic Planning Committee
September 28, 2002


The Board has initiated a strategic planning process to insure that we are meeting and anticipating members' needs. Through this process we will focus on addressing the biggest challenges and opportunities that Bethex encounters as it serves its members. Each Board member will support at least one component of the planning process, and the Advisory Board will also provide guidance and counsel to address the strategic priorities.

The following are the strategic priorities that the Board is committed to for the next 6 months:

  1. Technology. Provide and maintain stable, affordable systems with the capacity to accommodate member, branch, and product growth over the next 3-5 years.

  2. Marketing. Improve communication about and usage of products and services to current members, while expanding Bethex's membership base.

  3. Branch Profitability. Build the capacity to measure and monitor branch performance. Use this understanding to tailor marketing strategy and member service at the branches.

  4. Staff development. Develop staff by providing core skills training and job enrichment to improve member service.

We welcome feedback on these priorities and look forward to delivering on our promises to the Bethex membership.
